How do people practice/prepare for parkour?
What it takes to become an expert in parkour?
As you all know that parkour is one of those extreme sports that require a great amount of practice in order to become a pro. It takes a good amount of strength to able to perform extreme stunts. You must have the ability to jump extremely high, have good stamina, and be to perform body-weight exercises such as pull-ups and push-up without any troubles.
Workout program to prepare for parkour
The workout program is provided by a plyometric expert named Shawn Myszka. The workout consists of cardio and strength exercises that must be performed at least two or three times a week. The workout includes a warm exercise and 5 normal exercises to help improve your parkour skills.
Warm-up Exercises
1. Multi-directional jogging: The duration of this exercise should be for three minutes
2. Quadrupedal Movement: The duration of this exercise should be up to two to three minutes. This exercise is good to train your bipedal and quadrupedal movements.
The Workout
1. Bench Vaults: The Bench Vaults exercise is great to train your ability to climb on the ceiling or roof when performing parkour
2. Reverse Quadrupedal Movement Push-ups: The Reverse Quadrupedal Movement Push-ups is one of those crucial exercises that will help you make big jumps from stair when ascending and descending from stairs
3. Box Jump Plus Altitude Drops: You must jump to the top of the box and turn 180 angle and jump back. Repeat the process. You have to do this for 30 seconds with as many reps as possible. This is to help to prevent injury when jumping from great heights
4. Traversing Pull-Ups: You must be able to do pulls up if you want to do this exercise. Do at least four or five reps to complete this exercise
