Underwater Hockey: What's it all about? The Basics: Underwater hockey is a non-contact sport, which is already quite different to its land-based counterpart, it consists of two teams attempting to manoeuvre a puck along the bottom of the floor of a swimming pool into the opponents' goal. Players must wear a diving mask along with fins and a snorkel as well as some other personal protective equipment such as mouth-guard , gloves, head caps and others. The Puck weighs in at 1.5kg and is made of lead-coated in a plastic covering. The weight of the puck means that it will naturally gravitate to the bottom of the pool however during passes the puck can be lifted off the bottom of the pool.
