The form of chess played is speed chess in which each player has a total of 12 minutes for the whole game.
The World Chess Boxing Organisation keeps control of the sport.
In July of 2008 in Berlin a 19 year old Russian mathematics student Nikolai Sazhin won the title of ‘World Championship’
in chess boxing.
According to many individuals who have participated in Chess Boxing, the popularity of Chess is seen as being key to Chess
Boxing’s potential success.
Around 500 million people worldwide know of this sport and its rules.
Here are a few words by the founder of the sport that is known today as Chess Boxing...
“Chess boxing has something very unique that’s not represented in any other sport” Says the founder of the weird sport Rubingh.
“You need mental and physical strength in one discipline”.

Rubingh furthermore states that to be a particularly good fighter and chess player you have to be cold blooded.

As we already know, the idea of Chess boxing was started by a Dutch cartoonist in a dystopian graphic novel; Rubingh.
The game originally had an entire game of boxing and then an entire game of chess sequentially, however modifying it to
separate rounds of chess and boxing one after the other made the sport more humane and disciplinary.
